Janumet

Hi, I,m new. I have been diagnosed for 7 yrs or so and have used diet, Metformin, Amaryl, and now currently Janumet (50 sitagliptin, 500 metformin ). It seems to be working ok, although my mornings are usually in the 150's before breakfast and medication.
I started Janumet with 5mg of Amaryl in the morning only, but found my readings were too low, so I cut out the Amaryl. I have lost 10-12lbs since stopping the Amaryl, and I think the Metformin cuts your appetite which probably helps.
I am getting hot flashes again and some weird sensations in the chest from time to time. I had these before when taking the Metformin, and wore a heart monitor for a month which showed nothing abnormal. Has anyone else had any symptoms or bad problems with Metformin or Sitagliptin other than those noted on the prescription print out?

Hi Cricket, welcome to the forums! I didn't have any "unusual" side effects when taking metformin. I do hope you and your doctor get things straightened out.

Hi
;
I've been on Janumet for about 10 months now. 1000 mg 2 times a day.
I get the hot flashes. I'm a guy, I'm not supposed to get those. If I take it without eating before hand I get really queasy.
Never any chest pains.
Otherwise it works.
