Red face Novolog pen newbie blues

Hi, I just started the Novolog pen blues. It is a lot of changes this week. I am opt. that I can do it but gee whiz.. if your out and about where do you check and stick? in car in bathroom? I have trouble sticking my self and just stand there like foreverrr and finally do it. Then my husband is allllways asking me what the sugar is.. like he know any thing HA. so I just change the subject. errrr. what a tough week. but it'll get better. any advise is a welcome.

You get used to sticking yourself wherever you are. When I am out I just do it all under the table sitting in my chair. It takes a while, but soon you won't even realize your doing it, it will be another pre-meal ritual like washing your hands or saying grace.

HI Pammie & Welcome.

Prior to pumping, I used Novolog pens with the short needle tips. I always found myself hesitating to give the shot too, but after awhile, it becomes second nature and you just "do it". LOL

I would NEVER test or give an injection in a public restroom. Too many germs in there! I always tested & gave my shot right at the table (if out to eat), discretely of course, or in the ladies dressing room (if at the mall).

When I am out at a Restaurant or even at work - I just roll up my shirt and inject in my belly fat. Totally stay way from public bathrooms, yuky.
It will become habit eventually and you wont even be thinking about it - just doing it.

I sometimes tell people that you can compare it to this:
You poop - then wipe your bum - its just something you do.
You eat - then you take a shot - its just something you do.

Welcome to the forums

You'll get the hang of the injections soon. It just gets easier and easier the more you do it really. I've never really been hesitating when taking my shots. But in the beginning it felt like everyone was staring at me when i injected in public, but i'd never take my injections in a public bathroom The feeling of people staring at me faded after a while, when i felt more confident of my injection technique and people around me got used to me being diabetic. Sure, people might still stare when eating out. But then, it's their problem if they don't have anything better to look at

Cool shots in public

Hey thanks for the quick replies.. the thing is.. is that I have to check my sugar first before the pen. So yea, I can see you pro's our there know you need a five and do it under the table but I have to check for now first and then I can't see me playing under the table just yet with all my parph. stuff. and trying to order some eats.. . Then I have all this junk in my purse.. just as I get a bigger purse the handle breaks go figure. Then the readings are not coming down as they should to 150 in 2 hours. they are like 200. maybe I"m not sticking it right. This curve is a rooller cooster ride.. ooh I"m 104 lbs and 5'5" what else is needed for general knowledge? well, just a lot of changes and trying to wade thru it all. Thanks so much for you helps
