New to the Forum

Hello all, I am new here but not quite so new to diabetes unfortunately.
I was originally diagnosed T2 (imagine that) a few weeks after my 37th birthday. I showed up in the ER with a BG of 640 and in DKA. Spent 4 days in the hospital and was discharged with the usual treatments that most type 2's are on, Metformin, Glipizide, Actos, and Humulin.
After a few days the Glipizide was causeing horrific hypos and was removed. Next the Actos was removed as it showed no improvement. Then the first A1C came in at 8.4, and Byetta was added to the mix. The Byetta actually showed very promising results initally and got me to an A1C of 5.2. Then after a while I would start to get real high spikes, 300+, after I ate lunch, which was the only meal I did not take the Byetta for.
Then my company had me take a DOT physical and ofcourse since I was on sliding scale insulin I did not pass the physical. Then they requested I try to get a waiver and this required an Endocrinologist report and several weeks of BG results at various times of the day and night.
Got to the Endocrinologist and he ran an array of test because my numbers were not typical and he suspected I was what he called "slow onset type 1".
The test confirmed it and he completely changed my treatment and I went off all the oral meds and Byetta and started just Novolog at meal times to cover carbs. WOW did I feel much better for the first time in a few years.
Now in my last 2 years on insulin my morning numbers are creeping up to the 120 range and my Endo said it was time to think about a basal of Levemir at bedtime.
This prompted me to ask if the pump would be more appropriate as it would be more adjustable. He said it would actually be perfect and that is were I am now.
Pump has been approved and I am now just waiting on the pump to show up.
I went with the Animas One Touch Ping and am really looking forward to pumping.
