Hi All,
I am a newb to this group, expect some odd questions! LOL
I was diagnosed two days ago, I want to try to tackle this with diet and exercise any thoughts?

| | | Hi! Welcome to DF. I guess you're a Type 2 (your profile still says type 1, you can update that). There are a number of diet and exercise only T2s here, myself included. There are also threads on this topic you might try searching for those - let us know if you have trouble finding them.

Enalapril 20 mg 1 daily (ace-inhibitor)
Lower carb dieter (approx. 75 total carbs/day, more on weekends), taking chromium, multivitamin and fish oil tablets Initial A1C 8/06: 9.6
11/06: 6.2.
03/07: 5.3
06/07: 5.4
10/07: 5.3
05/08: 6.2 (right after dealing with shingles and bronchitis) |

| | | Hi and welcome! I'm also new to the board, but I've been a diabetic for 15 years now.
When I was first diagnosed (not including the Gestational Diabetes I had with my second child), I was able to control my blood sugars with diet and exercise.
I have found, however, that as I aged, it became harder and harder to control my blood sugar levels with diet and exercise (and frequent testing, of course) alone.
Everyone is different, of course, but things like age, weight, lifestyle, etc certainly do have an impact.
If you are able to control your diabetes with just diet and exercise alone, then by all means do it!
