| Newbie Hello to all-
I'm Mia and recently diagnosed with type 2. I also have COPD (Chronic Pulmonary Lung Disease) and have just come out of the hospital with a sinus infection that compromised my breathing. The had given me so many different antibiotics and steroids that while still in the ER, my sugar went up to over 600. I told them I had never had a problem with sugar and that I had a big workup to check on my heart in April and all was ok-including bloodwork.
Well, they waited for a couple of hours and took it again and it dropped down into the
300's. I am on prednisone and steroids which does increase sugar and am taking actos. I have eliminated carbs but am going crazy trying to learn all I need to know.
I will never be able to get off prednisone because it is the only thing to keep the swelling in my lungs down. I hear that cinnamon is helpful in lowering sugar along with biotin and vitamin E and Bcomplex. Has anyone here had any success with that.
I also am experiencing blurred vision - just went to get fitted for new glasses and need to get checked every six months to make sure all is ok. I also am feeling tingling in 3 of my toes and some numbness along the side of my left foot and a little on my right. I have ordered diabletic socks and leg massager.
Something I read the other day says that diabetes can also cause you to have a hard time in swallowing. I have that- months ago I had an endoscopy and they found spasms in my esophagus, and now am taking protonix for that - its gotten better but not complete gone.
Doctors seem to think it will get under control once my steroids are reduced.... will be visiting the doctors next week. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.... I am having a really hard time here dealing with two diseases - one is enough and the lungs are quite a bit to handle - this makes exercising very difficult as I cannot walk too much, even with my oxygen - my legs cannot handle it as well as much pain in my lower back. I had been in the hospital for 10 days in bed and prior to that almost a month of being sick, mostly in bed. I am doing sit-down exercises trying to get legs and arms a bit toned to help my breathing along so I do not use as much oxygen for movement.
Sorry for so much info in one sitting... any suggestions would be so appreciated. Blessings to all.
