new to forum

Hi People: I'm new and just wanted to say hello. I have type 2 and have been treating it with metforum for about 3 years with no problems. Of late I seem to be having a high reading in the mornings. Around 7 to 7.3 or so. Anyone have any ideas why this could be happening?

Hello and welcome to DF. You had mentioned that you are on Met (metformin or metforum??) for the past 3 years. There are people here in this forum who are on met for many years. Its possible that your body is not responding to your current meds. Its not clear what dosage you are taking. Talk to your doc and let him/her know about this. Your doc might up your dosage or ask you to try a different med.

Also, has anything else changed recently? Things such as your diet, exercise routine?

Welcome KDWilson! Diabetes is progressive, and ofter over time it will take medication adjustments or additions to get the same results. Many of us struggle with our morning readings being higher than we like.

Do you limit your carbs? Do you get regular exercise? What was your last A1C? What's your metformin dosage?

Tell us a little more about yourself. Also, read some of the posts on "Dawn Phenomenon," as this can cause higher morning numbers.

Welcome to the forum, KDWilson.

If your experiencing high morning readings on a daily basis, you most likely have DP.....dawn phenomenon. There's plenty of information on the subject here on the forum.
