I am a new member and have been type 2 for 10 + years. I recently bagan taking Janumet 50/500 twice a day. I also take 8mg Amaryl per day. Does anyone have experience with Janumet, particularly IG side effects.

Havn't noticed any gastric issues with Janumet. I had been on Metaformin for years when my Dr. switched me to Janument this year in the hopes it would work better. I didn't really see a significant improvement with it but have stayed on it rather than argue with Dr.

I do think it causes me to have sinus problems but havn't been able to convice Dr of that.

i started 50/500 about 3 months ago and my stomach was fine for about a week and then was killing me for just under 2 weeks. after that it got better -- that or i just got used to it i guess.

is it just janumet that does that, or does all metformin cause those kind of issues?

I believe that GI issues are common to all forms of metformin. I was on Fortamet and had major problems at 2000 mg/day.
