      Smile Bill Yates

      Hello Everyone

My name is Bill and I am married with 2 sons. I retired in 2003 from BIRDS EYE WALLS where I worked for 43 years. I have recently been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, so it will be very interesting to hear from other people with this condition. The problem which bothered me most was Hot sweats that started from my toes and travelled up through my body into my head and sweat poured out of forehead, when the sweats eased my colour had drained from my face, which caused me a lot of worry not knowing what the cause was. Now I have been told that these sweats can be caused by low or high Bg.
I am taking Metformin, I was prescribed 500mg morning and 500mg at night. My Dr thought this was to high causing my BG to go too low causing my sweats again. I am now taking 500 mgs at night and i feel much better.
      Bill

Hi Bill and Welcome to DF!

How often are you testing you Blood Glucose (BG) levels at home? It is a good idea to test several times a day to find out how your BG varies and especially how it reacts to specific foods.

High BG (and/or low BG) can leave one feeling all kinds of "out of sorts" - I recognise the sweats but mine were mostly overnight You will begin to feel so much better as you get your BGs under better control.

Visit DF often, ask questions and tell us more about yourself

Hi Bill, welcome to ADF and can I borrow some money?

Out of control BG will make you feel weird for sure. Highs make me sleepy, lows make me shaky. Normals make me feel okay though, so LOTS OF TESTING IS KEY. I can't stress that enough. I thought everyone was BSing me but I've felt way better since I started testing more.

I also break out in a sweat when I'm going hypo. Basically you start pumping out adrenaline to release more glucose from your liver as your blood sugar plummets. Get some candy in your mouth and check your blood sugar! You'll probably find it is about 40mg/dl.
