Hello

Hi, just found your site.

I had gestational diabetes which has developed into type 2. I am on tablets but not going too well. Looking for ideas here. Jen

Hi Jen & Welcome.

How's your diet? Many of us here follow a low carbohydrate diet. Also, exercise (walking is great!) works wonders on keeping the blood sugar down.

Hi Jen,

Welcome to the forum. Karen said just what I would have said. It does take a while to get the hang of it. Be sure to test often so you know what is working and what isn't!

Again, Welcome. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Mich

Hi Jen, welcome to the forums. Lots of good information and friendly folks here.

What pills are you taking? How long have you been on them?

Some meds such as metformin, can take a few weeks to reach optimal levels, so you may not see great results immediately.
Also, watching your carbs (esp. "white foods" such as rice, potatoes, pasta and breads) and getting regular exercise can help keep #s stable.

It's important to test your blood sugar often, esp. 2 hrs after the first bite of food, so you can better learn how different foods affect your blood sugars and can make smarter food choices.

There's a great book you'll see recommended here often, "The First Year, Type 2 Diabetes," by Gretchen Becker. It's a great resource.

Hope you post often, we're all here to help one another.

Many people will try to tell you what you can’t eat with diabetes.
Most will be well-meaning.
Rather than compounding the problem by telling you what you should
eat, I’d recommend a simpler method, eat by your meter.
