Just joined the forum!
Wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm thrilled to have found this place. I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes in March of 2007. This past year has been rough and I'm still struggling. I hope to find some support here as well as making some new friends!

Welcome Michelle, glad you found the forums. Please tell us a little more about yourself and how you manage your diabetes.

Post often, lots of great people and good advice here.

T2, diagnosed 8/31/06.
Metformin 500 mg twice daily
HCTZ 12.5 mg every other day for BP
Enalapril 20 mg 1 daily (ace-inhibitor)
Lower carb dieter (approx. 75 total carbs/day, more on weekends), taking chromium, multivitamin and fish oil tablets

Initial A1C 8/06: 9.6
11/06: 6.2.
03/07: 5.3
06/07: 5.4
10/07: 5.3
05/08: 6.2 (after dealing with shingles & bronchiti)
2/09: 5.5

Triglycerides 0.60
Many people will try to tell you what you can’t eat with diabetes.
Most will be well-meaning.
Rather than compounding the problem by telling you what you should
eat, I’d recommend a simpler method, eat by your meter.

Hi from a newbie in the UK! I have to say I agree with everyones comments they are a real friendly and very knowledgable group of people. Ive already learnt lots and just feel better knowing there is somewhere I can come and ask questions no matter how silly I feel they are...
