Hi Everyone..

My name is Christine and I'm currently diagnosed as Pre-Diabetic. I'm afraid of becoming a full-blown Type 2 Diabetic, but I have a feeling it will be a matter of time before it happens. There is a family history of Diabetes and Heart Disease in my family.

I'm also dealing with a lot of medical issues. Some of these issues are:

1- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
2- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
3- Hypertension

I'm having a very difficult time losing weight and I'm hoping having joined this forum I can find some support and advice.

My endocrinologist would like me to be on a Diabetic 'low carbohydrate' Diet. I don't know where to start or how low she means because she never really specified.

I decided to sign myself up for a Diabetes Education Class.

WELCOME to the forum.

Did your doctor give you a glucose meter to test your blood sugar? If you have insurance, they will pay for a meter and test strips. If not, Walmart sells an inexpensive brand.

If you've been reading the board, you will know that one person's idea of low carbing is different from anothers. Some eat 50g or less, others like myself consume 50-100g a day.

Good luck and feel free to ask questions.

Karen

Thank you for the welcome Karen. I do have a glucose meter to check my blood sugar. I test about 4 to 5 times a day sometimes less. I have the Bayer Breeze 2 which requires no coding.
