Hi all

New here but not new to Diabetes. Dx around a year or so ago, T1.

Was on premixed insulin with strict carb management and good control (3 out of 4 A1c's all in the 5's)

Changed to MDI just under 6 weeks ago and its all gone to ****. So, MDI Holy Grail for Endos but not for me.

Just hi, and pleased to meet you all

Welcome to the club.

Those first a1cs are great but almost too good for a T1 unless you are in the 'honeymoon' period. I had almost a year where everything was great and then, wham. If that is the case, your old regimen would break down too. I did pretty well on MDI until I got my pump with each bringing more control. Good luck and stay with the program!

Hi lib. Why the change? Where things changing on the BG control front, was there a good reason for a regimen change? Or was it considered a pre-emptive strike? If your A1cs were around the 5s, the thought "don't fix what aint broke" comes to mind...

If no really good reason, why not go back to it? One thing I've learnt is whatever it is, even if the rest of the world disagrees or laughs at me, I use what works.

Finding the right regimen on MDI can be a challenge, but it's worth it. Get the "Think Like a Pancreas" by Gary Scheiner and/or "Using Insulin" and "Pumping Insulin" by John Walsh. I especially found "Pumping Insulin" useful - I'v found that thinking like a pumper is invaluable for MDI.

Sorry you're going through a rough patch. You'll pull through!

Hi lib! Hello good evening and welcome to the forum, I'm so sorry to here things have gone pretty bad for you at the moment, you obviously at some stage had things well under control, with such good numbers in the 5s.
Take a good long breath, and look at what you were doing before, it may be necessary for you to go back on yourself, you must do what ever it takes to get things back on track.

You know it makes sense!
All the best my friend.

Many people will try to tell you what you can’t eat with diabetes.
Most will be well-meaning.
Rather than compounding the problem by telling you what you should
eat, I’d recommend a simpler method, eat by your meter.

Hello and welcome to the forum

Those A1c results in the 5's are sensational - do whatever works for you, especially when you've got proof like that.
