New Here

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I'm gland i could find a forum where I can share other peoples experiences ad share my own. I am newly diagnosed since January 23, 2005, and I am 28 years old right now and im from Texas. The way I found out I had diabetes was I had lost around 40 pounds in about three months, thee week before I went to my docto i lost 13 pounds in one week. They took me in and said my sugar level was almost 600. I'm glad I went in when I did, because if not I probably would not be here right now. I am still using syringes right now four times a day(3 times with humalog, once before I eat, and once at bedtime with lantus). I have an appointment with my endo next week, and i'm hoping he is going to put me on the pump, this is according to what he told me on my last visit. Well thanks for listening and I hope to meet a lot of new people on this forum.

Hello Macjm, it's nice to meet you. I'm glad you found us, you'll find tons of info and many many really great people. This is a great place for info and feedback from the people who actually use pumps on a day to day basis. I hope that you pick one that works well for you. I hope we'll see you around often!

I'm also type 1...dx'ed about 3 years ago...I can't believe it's already been that long. It kind of feels like yesterday. I know there's a lot to learn and take in, but you will. It take time, but you will be ok. the more you learn, the better. It has really helped me. This forum also has been a god send for me : . I don't know what I would do w/o the people here. I hope that you find the same here. We've really become like family.

Well, welcome again and please do feel free to drop by anytime

Take care.

Meech is a liar: We're all a bunch of moody, non-sugar monitoring, injection-skipping diabetics who sleep a lot and eat cheesecake.

Just kidding.

Except for the cheesecake.

Actually, we're a semi-sensible group, often comparing experiences and sometimes pushing the bounds of convention. You'll get a lot of advice here you wouldn't get from a doctor, just because we live with it and most docs do not. Ask any questions you want to ask, we've all been there. And post any observations you make, as it may help others!

Talking New Here

Welcome to the forum. This is indeed a great place for info and friendly people. I'm fairly new myself and have learned a lot in a short time. Something I have to keep reminding myself is NEVER GIVE UP---FIGHT IT ALL YOU CAN. I am T2 for 12 years and am having a terrible time with control. My Dr. thinks it is because more of my cells are shuting down and it looks like I will be an insulin user very soon. Come by often, there is always something interesting to read.
