What's up, I'm Ben, I got diagnosed in Novemeber 2009 after being real ill for about a month, it sucks..
I'm from England and I'm 23 and an athlete (basketball). I joined because I'm still pretty unsure about a lot of stuff so thought this would be a good place to try and get some answers...

Diagnosed November 2009 - Type1
Medication
NovoRapid 4-6 units 3x a day before meals
Lantus 22 units before bed

Hi Ben, welcome to the forums!
T2, diagnosed 8/31/06.
Metformin 500 mg twice daily
HCTZ 12.5 mg every other day for BP
Enalapril 20 mg 1 daily (ace-inhibitor)
Lower carb dieter (approx. 75 total carbs/day, more on weekends), taking chromium, multivitamin and fish oil tablets
Initial A1C 8/06: 9.6
11/06: 6.2.
03/07: 5.3
06/07: 5.4
10/07: 5.3
05/08: 6.2 (after dealing with shingles & bronchiti)
2/09: 5.5
5/10: 5.8 (home test)

Reduced Glipizide to 5 mg.
14 Jan 2010 - A1C = 6.7
Added Glipizide ER - 10mg

A1C = 11.2

6'5, Basketball is tough on my sugar though, because It's such a high intensive sport it's hard to control, I know it's bad but I try and get a high bs before I play just so there is no risk of going lowOriginally Posted by Baylor1970

Welcome to the forums! I was diagnosed when I was 19 years old. It's a weird age to get it, right after adolescence and just moving into adulthood.
