New child of diabetic parent

I am not diabetic myself but grew up in a household with a diabetic (Type 1) dad. I would love to talk with other children of diabetic parents. My brother and I have some unique 'talents' (like being able to tell Dad's blood sugar level to within 5 points over the phone from 300 miles away) and challenges from growing up with a parent that was in poor control of his diabetes. I'm also scared about what lies ahead as my parents age and would like to hear what other members have to say. Thank you in advance!

My mom's diabetic and has been since 1987ish (type one). She was in her 20's and found out when she was in a car accident and broke her nose.

I been type 1 diabetic come 10yrs in April. I think I should get a prize or something for having such great control.

My gma became diabetic after me but is on the pills.
