Hi, I'm a newly diagnosed Type 2.

I've been backcountry traveling for 28 years and have no plans to stop. I was wondering if there's any other backpackers, canoe campers or otherwise adventurous people out there coping with strict diets and a few days of much needed isolation and "R&R". If so, can you share some knowledge about what you eat?

Depends of whether I have access to facilities or a grill. If just backpacking, there's always jerky, smoked salmon, dried fruit, nuts, etc.

That sounds like some of the things I take already. I've also taken instant hummus, wheat tortillas with tuna in the pouch and different nuts.

I guess I have to look towards packing more hard cheeses and salami type meat. It's going to be hard to give up all that couscous, easy packing/cooking pasta and that whole sleeve of Girl Scout thin mints for dessert.
