I was thinking of using diet pills during the times when it's especially hard for me to resist temptation...eating out...parties, etc. I'm on a diet rollercoaster and I'm trying to get off! :( Anyone have any experience w/these? I know Dr. B has a method of rotating diet pills but my endo thinks he's a little over the top so I'm not going to have access to prescription diet meds. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Over the years, I have been on many diets. I have tried diet pills at one time or another, and they never really worked. They made me hyper, I did not sleep and often felt light headed.....but they did not control my appetite.
I have also found it doesn't seem to hurt to overindulge once in awhile for a party or eating out. In fact if I didn't I felt deprived and ate too much after. I eat out maybe once a month and have want I want, but I find that I don't want as much as I used to.

Act like you are taking one, but take the imaginary pill with a full liter of water. Should accomplish the same...

I lost a lot of weight while I was taking Zonegran. It's medication for people who have seizures and one of the side affects is loss of appetite. It sure is a lot safer than those diet pills they have out there! Zonegran must be prescribed by a doctor. It may not be for everyone, though.
If appetite suppression is what you are looking for then Hoodia might work for you. It does for me. The thing is appetite is not the only reeson we over-eat. it is a mental thing we have. I find myself where I am not hungry at all but still want to eat something. Stress most likely. Hoodia can be a little expensive making it not as desireable, but no prescription needed. It is reported that it is affective in about 80% of cases.

My doctor had put me on a diet pill awhile back and it did supress my appetite. It made me only want to eat dinner and when I ate dinner it was very little. I'm on a pump so of course my daily intake of insulin dropped. I rarely went low because my basals were pretty much set.
The pills were $130 for a month supply if you want to ask your doctor about a prescribed pill other wise over the counter wood probably be cheaper.

If your sugars are hard to control because of your appetite. you may be able to get a prescription for Byetta which is for type 2's and suppresses the appetite. I lost 15 lbs in two months and I've heard of many others who did the same. Talk to your doc about it. It's not targeted for weight loss, but its side effects include decreased appetite and reduced weight. You won't have to deal with the caffeine or any other scary chems in pills. Plus, it helps your pancreas work all on its own.

This is nice to hear. My Endo put me on two meds that cause weight gain. She won't see me again until Aug.24th. In the meantime, I have an appointment with another Endo on Aug 10th as I'm not happy with my current one. I may consider taking Byetta then. I'll have to see what my new Endo thinks.
Thanks for sharing!
