Hi, I am pretty new to all this, both diabetes and online things. I find a ton of information on the internet!
If anybody could give me a quick heads up that would be great. Are there MD's on here as well-- just curious. I tried a forum on the Weight Watchers board and they were very rude to me. My doctor had me join a diabetes team on Peertrainer, that is helpful for getting info from an American Diabetes doctor who runs it.
Anyway, thanks.

Welcome, and no I don't think any one here is an MD. Just a regular bunch of diabetics who have lots of personal experience. So far I haven't found any to be rude. Ask all the questions you like just remember that it's just our opinions and things that we've found that work for us: everyone is different. Are you on any medications or are you able to control it with diet and excersize? Let us know a bit about yourself.

Hi Doozio,
Message Boards can have some rude people, but I haven't found any here. Most people here are very knowlegable and are willing to spend time to help others. And there is no co-pay for the services.

Thanks! I am working on trying to control this with diet and exercise for the time being. My rule is that I use drugs as a last resort, but I am not crazy or anti-druge. I just want to see what I can do with my mind. My doc told me to log my food and exercise each day-- his thing is that weight loss is the cornerstone of diabetes management and I need to drop 70. He also suggested support groups, and directed me to Peertrainer and forums like this. My group leader on PT is some muckity muck at the ADA, she actually wrote this post (http://peertrainer.com/cs/blogs/pats_blog/default.aspx) today. Way over my head, but I am absorbing it all.
