Hurricane season is here. Does anyone have any good suggestions for foods that would be good for diabetics during a hurricane? I can only think of whole grain crackers and laughing cow cheese. Any help would be great!

Canned chicken. Tuna if you can eat it without Mayo.. there's also a bunch of new Tuna products. (I'd be doomed as I don't eat fish)
Nuts.. not the best, but could work.

This is actually a very interesting question... I'm a disaster researcher, and haven't thought about it before... now that I'm diagnosed Diabetic.. I'm realizing how limited the options are.

How about packaged peanut butter crackers or a box of granola or snack bars? They're not the lowest in carbs, but they keep for a long time.

MREs = Meals Ready to Eat....You can purchase them at local Military surplus stores, and truthfully, they taste alot better than they used to (more food choices). The servings aren't huge, but they help in a pinch and cover the needed nutrition (most of the time). They also come with peanut butter & cheese crackers, as was already mentioned. Just another idea...

How about canned beef stew? Peanut butter doesn't require refrigeration. Beef Jerky would work also.
