Hello !

What are you doing to keep your motivation ? I'm tired about all that. About diabetes. I think I'm losing my motivation easily these days. Do you have some tips and tricks for me ? :dong:

My motivation is that I want to keep all of my limbs, my eyesight and my internal organs. I don't want to end up in a wheelchair or blind, dependent on others to help me do everyday things.

DITTO!!! I have known a few diabetics who aren't around anymore. I'm not too fussed about the dying bit, more how the process (and it WAS a process - not quick) went. I'd rather not go that way if I can avoid it.

Basicly you have 2 choices live or die. That's the only motivation required.

Hey Mario: Good to see you back. :D How's your Sweet Boy Antoine doing?
And your Lovely Wife?

Well, you asked a loaded question since only you can know why you are losing
your motivation. There is probably such a thing called Diabetes
Fatique(in other words: getting tired of looking after the treatment of
a 24/7 disease). I haven't looked it up but if there isn't, there should be.

What can I say? Poodlebone and dbc are certainly correct plus wanting to be
around for Antoine and your Family, are always good motivation.

If you are strict with your Diabetes regimen, then relax it for a couple days(DO NOT
stop taking your meds.)eat something you shouldn't(bolus to counteract it), don't
exercise for a few days and relax. It won't kill you.
But then you must get back on the wagon and get back to looking after
your Diabetes.

Hopefully most of your life is running smoothly as it should. When things
don't go quite as how we had expected it to or if we have a big disappointment
that can bring us down as you know. That can stop us from applying ourselves
successfully to other areas where we need to.

If you are suffering from depression(no one should feel ashamed about
that since most Diabetics do get depressed, supposedly from an imbalance
of chemicals in the brain because this is a **** tough chronic disease).
If you think that is a possibility, please talk to one of your Doctors(the one that
listens to you). ;) He or she will refer you to the appropriate health
care professional or may make other helpful suggestions.

Is there something that you would like to do, that you enjoy, that you
haven't been able to do in a while? (and I don't mean something naughty without
the Wife, Not good for a marriage :D). Perhaps going out fishing
with the Guys for a couple days. ASK your Wife if it's okay, just in case she had
other plans, plus it's better to ask than to just tell her. Makes her feel
better usually, that you asked. If she says, "No way in ****" Then simply
tell her that everyone needs some time to do something they like away from general
life to refresh and just take care of themselves for a while. That way they will be able
to feel good again to take good care of their Family. Promise to be good and take your
cell phone so she can disturb you...oopps, I meant get a hold of you, if she needs to.
Make sure a Friend or Family member is around to help her also if she needs. Of course,
in the same line then she can take time away also if she wants, to revitalize.

Have you a Friend with Diabetes that you can compete with in sugar levels? The best
meter readings(has to be proven)gets a small favor or prize from the other each week.
Hey, it works with some people. Get your Diabetes Friend to go jogging, biking, etc.
with you or any Friend for that matter.

(Oh by the way Mario, we were told years ago how good the fishing is in Quebec.
We have gone fishing in many areas there and all we came up with were tons of
sunfish, minnows and some pike. We can get those over here. Where's the fish??? :D )

Last year was the worst year I have had since I can remember. Big loss to
me and my Family, other medical problems plus about 5 other bad news we
received. For some, I had a few good cries(men can also), others I got help from the
Good People here(you really should show up here more often ;) ;) ), a few other things I discussed with Family and Friends, I did alot of thinking and praying and the rest I just accepted and carried on.

How's your web site going? I forget, was that a side job or your whole job?
I hope it's going well.

Sorry, I'm just mentioning common stuff here, no special tips or tricks.

I do hope that you find some way to get your motivation back. Sorry, i got off track also. Good Luck. :ciao: Sorry, so long.

I don't really have any tips. My motivation is my family and the many friends I have made on here. Just remember this: We all have bad days and we all get frustrated but we do have a reason to succeed. I think your reason is your wife and your handsome son. Hang in there and know that your friends on here are always here for you.:D

:dito:

Same reasons for me with the addition of always wanting to be around and able to help my kids and family.

Hi Mario, I hope the new baby is doing well. I recently went through a spell like yours, I felt left out so often, and was so tired of testing, injecting and seeing doctors. Then I hurt my leg and it got infected.....it wasn't pretty and is just now starting to heal after about 3 weeks. This was a small injury, and it made me think what could happen if it had been worse....maybe this is what happens when diabetic people lose their legs or toes. It was really all the motivation I needed to get going again. I think this happens to all of us and Carlie's advice to take a little break sounds good to me. Sometimes we work so hard to keep control, that we feel deprived.

Thanks all for your answers. I'll think about it today but I think Carlie point the problem. My family and my work take all my time so in the last month, I put my diabetes away (unconsciously ) and also my sport activity. When I do sport twice or more often in a week, I don't have to be motivated, it came with it. It is a package deal !

I think I'll have to reintroduce sport in my life. Motivation will be back.

Carlie, which kind of fish you want to take ? I fish Atlantic Salmon in Gaspesie. Harder than sunfish ;)

And Antoine is going well. Thank to ask. 6 month old now.

Hey Mario, see.... you knew the answer. You just had to shuffle
your thoughts. Excellent. Sports are Great Fun and Great exercise.
More exercise, less Insulin.

Salmon, :D you hit that one right on. You obviously, haven't seen
the sunfish at Duhamel(GIANTS). :1eye: Rainbow trout would be the
second best but that we can get around here. I've been to Quebec City
and Old Quebec City(way up there, just Beautiful) and the base at Val Cartier
to visit Friends. But not to Gaspesie. That's a bit far for us to go fishing. I
was told somewhere near the west or northwest of Montreal. There are so
many lakes and rivers in Canada. We shall see....

Oh and Thanks for the pic of Antoine. He is such a Sweetheart with
that smile. And no one will be able to say NO to those beautiful eyes. :)
Good Health to you. :dancing2:

Awww what a cute baby! Little Antoine looks like an angel. Is he? :)

Mario, there is your motivation right there. Antoine! You need to stay in top shape, you need to look after yourself in order to stay very healthy. Just wait till Antoine starts walking. You'll need to be fit let me tell you. :D And what a good example to set for children right from the start : that it is important to take good care of our health! Through diet, through exercise, and through lifestyle. I believe that by striving to stay healthy and happy, your child will grow up learning how important it is. Don't start when he's a teenager. Will be too late. By then Antoine will say 'Relaxe tes hormones le père, I know a lot more than you!' :thrasher:

The very best to your and your little family!
