I had a very annoying night last night, it might worth noting I've been sneezing a lot the past 2 days so I might be comming down with slight cold but I have no other symptoms.

About 2 hours after guesstimating my dinner I tested 194. This is very high for honeymooning me. I corrected with 1u novo which usually drops me by 100-120 and forgot about it. 4 hours after the correction shot, while tossing and turning in bed I started sweating, on my way to turn on the ac I figured I'll test just in case because it can't be that hot. Sure enough I was 53, 1 teaspoon of sugar later I started to feel it strongly. I ate some more carbs and went to bed 45 minutes later with a safe 137 bg level. I had a very restless sleep and when I woke up I tested 62, now I corrected it and everything seems fine except for the headache that lingers for a while after night time hypos and lack of sleep.

That's it for ranting. This condition sure has a way of keeping you on your toes. I don't think there's an explanation for why it happened. Maybe I have a cold and it messed up my bg, maybe my pancreas decided to work harder for some reason, maybe my basal needs to be lowered. Any other ideas?

Corwin, after figuring out I was having allergy attacks during the night, I finally got that straightened out. I did the same thing, sneezed a lot, woke up in sweats(and low), or with a bad headache. A tiny allergy pill before bedtime seemed to solve the problem. Seems like it never ends, doesn't it?

Thanks for the advice Penny, I'll keep it in mind if it happens, I was never allergic to anything but I guess it can always start. Today I wasn't sneezing at all so I think it was probably a slight cold that went away before doing any real harm.

What I think happened is that my need for insulin changed again. I kept going too low during the next day, I decreased my lantus from 16 to 14 and also my bolus amount and I'm still lower then I'd like to be almost every time I test. It's great to find out I need less insulin but I wish the process of finding out wouldn't get me hypo 4 times a day and make me force so much sugar in my system. Even on 14 lantus I got to 59 in the middle of the night, I'll give it another day then drop it a bit more if it doesn't stablize.
