My partner was driving home on the motorway after a long weekend in London. I was very hot and tired. Tested my BS around 9.30pm and it was around 4.5. I decided I would wait until I got home to have long acting insulin and snack.
Fell asleep. I woke up after about an hour and felt so strange. I felt like I was awake but unable to focus/speak. It was horrible. After a short while I came round but with a dreadful headache. Tested and was quite low. Had snack and felt better. Could I have had a hypo in my sleep and woke up? This is the first time Ive woken and felt like this.

Sounds like you did have a hypo when you were asleep, and when you woke up. Hypoglycemia just means you have below 'normal' blood sugar. Sorry you went low, its never fun, but pretty managable.

Yeh, Ive had a few when i was awake but this was really scary. I think its because I get the signs when Im awake (most of the time anyway) Guess Ill get used to it and know whats happening next time.

I can sympathise with the scariness. They can be indeed. Rather than get used to it, try to avoid it ;). Luckily you were able to manage it on your own and you didn't black out, or start to seize.

Sounds like good advice. I always make sure my levels are good before bedtime and it seems to work through the night.

Been there, but not as lucky as you. I have been woken up by paramedics.

I got used to never going to sleep below 100. Of the lucky hypos, I have had while sleep, My liver has responded and I have been OK, but it is nothing nice. I am glad u are OK.

i seem to have quite a few of the middle of the night hypos,i once shook out of bed,hit my face on the table, had a nice black eye, recently i shook out of bed,hit the table with my jaw and hurt my leg,had no idea that anything was going on,sugars were good when going to sleep.yesterday i went to the store and i was ok down the first aisle of the store and then i could'nt see or walk right, lucky my son josh was with me,he went into my purse and got some candy out.i asked him how did he know i was low and he said i saw that you could'nt see so that means you are low.anyway it took almost 2 hours at the store when it should have taken me a half hour at the most.

I have had lows while I am asleep, most of the time I wake up. My ex husband had to call the ambulance once when he could not wake me up. Then he had to show the paramedics how to use the meter that they had , it was the same as mine and they had not used it yet. This was 14 years ago.
