OK......I talked about this before but I wasnt sure that I wanted to do it. This is my plan. Next month starting the 1st of July I am going to take back control of my diabetes and my life. I am hoping that I can keep with it and get some help from either people online or even friends and family here. Now that I am out of school I am thinking it might be easier for me because I will have more time to do things than I normally did before I graduated. Anyone have any suggestions or comments that they would like to make? I am open for all of them right now. I am so out of control that I could use any advice that I could get. Let me know what you think. Good or bad......

How about starting today so you have plenty of practice before the 1st of July? :D

What's the significance of July 1?

Why start in a month?? You know that you have not had control for a while now. Why not start TODAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sooner you start, the better you will feel.

There are three simple rules to good diabetes control.

1. Test often.
2. Test often.
3. Test often.

Knowledge is power so get empowered.

In life there will always be something that will "take time" away from your diabetes care. If it's not school, it will be a new job, or a new love, or a new child. You might need to resolve to take better care knowing there will always be a zillion demands on your time, and you will just need to prioritize with diabetes care towards the top of the list.

Good luck,

Joe

And write it all down...You won't have to do it forever, but commit to at least a month. Three months would make more sense, and yeah, it's a PITA, but if you end up feeling like a normal person again, it's worth the effort.

I agree. Test! Test! Test! And write it down. But also keep a food diary. I'm the world's worst recorder, but when I do it works. Reward yourself, but not with food.
Also remember that it took awhile to get out of control. You are not going to get in control overnight. When you fall back, just start working at it again. Anything worth while takes a lot of effort.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing. If you have someone to report to it becomes easier.
