Repeat dispensing

Has anyone in the UK managed to find a GP who does repeat dispensing yet?
I've just changed GP and was apauled to find my new GP had never even heard of it. I should make life a whole lot easier once it becomes mainstream.

I've seen the leaflets about repeat dispensing in Boots but I do not know if my GP is signed up for it...will enquire at my appointment a week on Monday.

Actually, I hadn't heard of this either. Currently what I do is email my prescription request to my GP surgery and then pick up the paperwork the next day. But this way sounds a lot easier and more convenient. I think I'll go ask at the surgery later this week about repeat dispensing.

Yes it's used by my practice only time I normally see my GP is once a year for precription review :biggrin:

I'm on such a scheme. I send an e-mail to my surgery and 3 days later my repeat prescription is ready to be picked up.

My surgery has a scheme with the local pharmacy so you can skip the trip to the surgery, your meds are ready and waiting for you at the pharmacy. Tried it but didn't work out. Meds were never ready, in fact there was poor communication between the surgery and pharmacy and once I even ended up with the WRONG meds. Another time I phone the pharmacy to make sure everything was ready and was told yes everything's ready to be picked up. Showed up 30 mins later only to be told I wasn't even on the scheme. How can they make such a mistake??! You can't find another soul with that family name in UK!!!! I told them what I thought about their scheme and also what they could do with it. :evil: Took my business elsewhere.

Well, I've just had an e-mail back from my PCT (Primary Care Trust) regarding this. It seems my PCT has decided not to impliment repeat dispensing until the electronic version comes on-line later this year. I am amazed that the PCT has the right to do this. Oh well.
