I just got back from my first visit to my new endo, she made a very good impression, it was nice to talk to someone who can actually teach me things about diabetes. My experience so far with health care professionals wasn't as great.

My a1c was 5.9, she was impressed and I was really happy about it, it's my first post dx a1c and my first was 13.1 3 months ago. In fact she told me that the average 10 times I test a day is a bit excessive and I can relax a bit.

She also said that the insulin inhaler that is getting out now is actually really good. She saw studies and heard 2 lectures about it and said the doses are as accurate as regular insulin and it acts slightly faster then novo. I don't mind being on MDI but if it will really be as good as they say it might be an interesting alternative.

I also joined as a candidate for a study of DIAPEP277, this thing is intended for recently diagnosed honeymooning type 1's and suppose to stop\slow the destruction of beta cells. Should be interesting and might be helpfull to advance diabetes research. We'll see if I qualify.

Congratulations! It is always good when you find an endo with whom you can feel comfortable. I have gone through many since my dx in 1977 and the one I have now is the first ever that I really like.
