I'm not sure what your endo would do, but the hospital here will at least keep you over night for observation if you come in through the ER with a bs over 350. I know this from experience when I broke my foot and went to the ER. I was super pissed because +350 was not usual for me and all they wanted to talk about was my blood sugar when my foot needed the attention. Yay for stress elevating bs.
"oh, you hurt your foot... your blood sugar is high"
"yeah, ******* STRESS, X-ray please!"
"but your blood sugar is high"
"sigh, yeah Diabetes must have broken my foot, not that huge rock i tripped on"
"we need to address your blood sugar... we'll keep you overnight.. .do you have a family dr???"
thats pretty much how I found out hospital here keeps you if your bs is +350. ;)

Under those circumstances, if your endo won't admit you for control............
YOU NEED A NEW DOC!!!!
Sorry I shouted, but, Gee, stupidity freaks me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Insist, insist, insist, insist. Ask for a referal to one who will......that might get him/her going.
Take care.........

Getting used to 'normal' numbers is difficult when running high for a while. When it happens to me, I always feel like I am low at 120. On the flipside though, once you get back to normal range and stay there for a bit, those higher numbers feel a lot worse then they would right now.
Maybe try running 120-180 for a day or two, then shoot for 80-120. Sometimes, at least in my case (but I know for sure, not for others), I need a day or two to get to my ideal target so I don't feel low when I am not.

Everyone here has spoken with great advise..
I would def. go to the ER. Your Bsugar is way high, hopefully they will call your Endo. to come in. Then, grab the yellow pages and search for a new DOC!!!

Jared, Please don't take chances with your health... If you haven't already, please call your doctor or get in and see him :call:. Levels that high can be dangerous, especially if you have moderate to high ketones- we just don't want to see anthing bad happen to you.
Good luck and DO keep us posted!

I had laser surgery to stop the bleeding Two days ago on my left eye and this Wednesday im getting my right eye done. Looks like 7 more treatment total on both eyes. I called my new endo (I recently moved from VA to NC) to see if I could get in earlier than July 28th and they said they are booked up but because of my sugars they will see me today at 1:45. I need help. Im going to talk to them about the pump. Thanks for all your support and im going to make sure that I stay alive.....
I have two little ones at home that I would love to see get married in 20 years. They are 1 and 2 1/2 years old. I know were young parents. Only 24 and 23 years old.

Jared. if your endo won't admit you, you need to find someone who will. Levels that high are extremely dangerous (Yeah, I know, D'uh !!!!!). what part of NC are you in? I may be able to figure out some way to help you. If you don't want to post the info publicly, PM me and I'll do what I can to help.

Jared,
You doll!!!!! I was a young parent also.........nothing wrong with that.
You are right to see to your health. For you, for your wife, for your children.
INSIST with your endo. You have to pro-active with this disease. You can be your best advocate, or your own worst enemy. That depends on how you look at this "challange" life has handed you, and how you decide to treat it. So far, it sounds like you are on the right track...........fight to survive. Live to live. And love the whole process.
Again, for the sake of yourself and your loved ones, be insistant with your endo. Tell him/her that you need help!!!!! Specialists are more touchy about their time than General Practioners..........but, it is their job to assist you to a decent quality of life. Don't be afraid to point that out.
Please post how you appt goes today!!!!!!!!!!
AND, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now when I run 6-7mmol I feel like I'm running high ;)
Guess it will take a while to get used to normal BG's again ;)

Hi Jared - I have recently finished laser surgery so I know what you are going through. Please try & get a new endo who will seriously help you get in control. You need to get on top of your blood sugar as soon as possible because you are already experiencing diabetes complications (the retinopathy). Also, how is your blood pressure? High blood pressure is not good for your eyes (or your heart, kidneys...). Good luck with the pump & everything else. Keep us posted when you can :)
