That is very interesting and encouraging. I have also heard/seen research with regard to people (despite the progression of the disease from Pre diabetes to "complete" islet death) continuing to produce a certain amount of islets. The problem being that the new cells continue to be killed by the disease process. Perhaps if they can treat the autoimmune process, it may be able to "cure" the disease for at least certain people by allowing the newly produced cells to live. Once again, we will all have to wait and see.

This is fascinating. It's basically one of Israel's best research institute validating what a private Israeli drug company discovered. This is very encouraging to me considering I'm joining the "advanced clinical trials" they are talking about. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it to work as they think it does. I also saw studies, like you mentioned jrcskb, saying that people keep prodcing islets and the immune system keeps ruining it. If it's true this can actually mean a cure.

Maybe I'm just a skeptic, but why do I have a hard time trusting anyone who makes a link to some revolutionary drug/cure on the same day they join the forum?

duck, I would be too if it was some weird institute I never heard of in some abscure country. Good thing it's a world wide forum and you can have locals check things out. I know this institute very well and in quick google search I came up with this: http://www.weizmann.ac.il/immunology/CohenPage.html the homepage of the guy who lead this research in a legit site of this institute. Also the endo heading the study I'm joining mentioned they are working on this there. It seems to me that there's something right about this whole p277 research. As far as a real cure\treatment comming out of it, I guess only time will tell.

I hope you're right. But I still think there is something under-handed with joining a support forum to peddle something. Meh, I'll get over it.
