I am just curious as to how stress takes a toll on everyone's blood sugar levels. My stepkids have taken their toll on me lately. Especially last night. I tested myself during the time that I was upset and my reading was 395. Just wondering if anyone else has issues with their sugars hitting the roof when stressed...or even issues with their stepkids too! LOL That is probably another forum though. ;)

Stress can definitely impact your blood sugar. For me, I can never tell which way my blood sugar will go when impacted by stress :dontknow:. Sometimes it will go sky high  and other times it will plummet .

Just last Thursday, I had minor surgery... I woke up expecting to be in the 200s, but instead I woke up at a shocking 41. I wasn't as stressed as I thought I would be... (maybe I was on a subconscious level), so when I saw that reading, I was really surprised.

My suggestion to you would be to find things to relax you... No, stress sometimes can't be avoided, but if you find ways to deal with that stress- it can help a lot. I often find working out:vroam: , taking a hot bath or shower:bath: , venting :argh:, or watching something lite :aetsch: on dvd or tv often helps.

Hope your stress eases up~ hang in there

Ahh yes, my BS is up over 500 now. I think it is time to go home for a good shot of Humalog!!

Oh my goodness... that's quite high . How are you feeling? I know you may not be asking for my advice, but please continue to monitor your blood sugar frequently... seems like there is definitely something going on to drive your sugar up that high. And, more importantly, if it doesn't come down, please don't hesitate to call your doctor :call:.

Keep us posted!

Wow, that's very high. I hope you don't have any problems getting it to come down, and I hope it doesn't drop too low and put you into that vicious cycle of going high and low and high and low... Why do you have to go home for Humalog? Don't you carry any with you?

I felt pretty yucky yesterday, but am better today. I should carry insulin with me, but I just have this 'issue' with leaving it in the community fridge. Somedays that thing seems more like a science experiment!

I only keep the insulin I'm not using in the fridge. I always have a pen filled with insulin on me and it's never refrigerated, from the time I start it untill it's done. Once I'm done with it I take the new one out of the fridge. As I understand it, as long as you don't expose it to very extream tempratures it's perfectly fine to carry it on you in your pocket or bag or whatever. I would never go anywhere without insulin, I would freak out if I saw numbers above 250 and no way to correct on the spot.
