For a non diabetic who is being told I am close to being one. (Thats how I sum up what the Dr's say) What is the lowest sugar reading I should have?
It has been going into the low to high 70's. Even not long after eating or drinking a coke or something.

Low to high 70's are in the non-diabetic range - however, some people don't do well with those low numbers. If you stay low after eating then it is doubful that you are close to being diabetic.

Are you asking what a "normal" reading for that perfectly healthy person is? 70 is the magic number, but if you read here a lot, you'll see that there is a LOT of variation to that. Just this week someone posted that a normal person was hooked up to a constant glucose monitor, and the reading was in the high 30's, I think. Also, after a meal, it is not unheard of for a 'normal' person to be in the high 100's, depending on carb content, etc.

Did that make it more confusing? lol

Tested my daughter once, just for fun... after she had friends over. They had a massive dose of fizzy drinks and sweets and crisps etc which the most part they went to the shops to buy. 12 mmol/L (216 mg/dL)!!!! I said whoa! I made a huge fuss about it. I tested again an hour later and she was 4.5 mmol (81 mg/dL). Can't be good to scare the **** out of her pancreas like that. Had a little talk with her. I find it more and more hard because she eats more and more junk...

Hi,2204,
Don't worry too much,at least diabetes has no connections with eating sweets.
