Lowest i've ever been was 1.2 (21.5).
was my first ever hypo when i left the hospital, no one told me I could go low like that so soon and so easilly, and no one told me to keep sugar with me... I was constantly told not to eat sugar, but I really needed some then! Only good thing about it was it helped me realise what my hypo symtoms were very early on.
MarieLea,
I often went low, 1.1mmol was the lowest I remember, I guess around 12 in your readings. I would suggest that you always carry glucose tablets around with you and when you feel you are going low take 3. These are fast acting and I find good. Try to avoid lows as if you have too many you may become what they call hypo- unaware. Take care - Michael

1.8 (32.4). I usually don't waste time testing when I feel low though. I have my juice/ whatever a.s.a.p.

50. And I felt so awful that I don't ever want to go lower than that!

Mine was 27, in the middle of the night, which wasn't much fun at all. I've also never lost consciousness/passed out/been hospitalized since diagnosis, so I consider my track record to be pretty good:)

The lowest I have ever tested was 30 (I think). The paramedics have tested me before when unconscious and that reading was 17.

The lowest I tested was 42, and that was just recently. I think I was lower than that once after surgery, but I was just told that it was, did not see it myself.

I was once really sick and was tested at a doctors office and got a reading of 7 mg/dL. Don't know if I was sick because I was so low or if I was low because I was sick. Does that count, since it was in a doctor's office in the days before home blood glucose meters? I'll have to look through my records to see what the lowest at home test was.

Lowest was the other day at 46. Scared me because it was the first time I didn't feel a hypo. I only tested because the cat was scratching at my legs...

23, I think. I want to say 18 because I know I remember that number from somewhere, but I don't think meters even read that low. The first time I was brought by ambulance to the ER they tested my BG after I was wheeled in. I was somewhat awake by that point and my BG was 25. I didn't ask if they tested it before the paramedics started treatment when they arrived at my job, but that may be where the 18 was from.
I have tested myself in the 20's so many times I've lost count. Those were back on NPH. I really do wonder how low I have to go before I pass out.

My 17 reading and ER visit was during my NPH days. I really hated having to "feed" my insulin. :frown:

I have passed out from a low, but the lowest I've ever tested was 15 (when halfway out) & another was "Lo" on a Lifescan meter (which, I believe is below 20)...Not a good place to be, but it sometimes can happen. :s:

1.2 mmol and i was feeling fine... and yet another time 1.7 mmol and i passed out not long after... i've been in hospital on many an occasion due to low bgs... esp when i was younger, don't have that problem now though - thankfully!

er, sorry if this is a really dumb question, but i've never seen the term NPH before... can someone please tell me what it is?

1.8 mmol/L. I had been about 4.5 mmol/L and thought I had better keep an eye on it to see which way it was heading but then I fell asleep & woke up at 1.8. Was the worst hypo I have ever experienced.

My lowest low read LO on my meter which is under 21 I think. I felt fine, tested twice to be sure and it was LO both times. I've never passed out from a low even before I became hypo-unaware. My mom used to pass out at 40, which goes to show everyone is different. :)

32 is probably the lowest I've tested on the meter. But if I'm feeling really bad, I don't bother testing first. I grab the apple juice and test later.
cheers,

NPH is a long-acting insulin, like Lantus, only it's been around much longer. Unlike Lantus, it has a peak action period, generally 8 to 10 hours after injection and lasts around 18 hours although I've seen some indications that say it may last 24 hours or more.

I found this:
Neutral Protamine Hagedorn was created in 1946 when Nordisk formulated "isophane" porcine insulin by adding Neutral Protamine Hagedorn or NPH.

I got a 48 once, it scared me silly. I guzzled some fruit juice immediately, about 20g worth. My mistake had been over-exercise...I went back and worked out another set without re-testing or taking in more carbs. Fortunately, my glucose perked right up, and I've never done that again. I'm real careful now about monitoring before exercise, and sticking with my 1/2 hour workout routines. If I do another 1/2 hour, I take a break and have some more carbs with a re-test beforehand.
My 48 was a very shaky episode indeed, my hands we so jittery I had a little trouble getting the blood droplet onto the test strip.

Eri's lowest was 19mg/dL...she was completely passed out...the paramedics even did a retest on her...(she dropped so low so fast, it was a nightmare...no matter what I tried, it didn't work)
The lowest she ever was and was coherent and was like nothing was wrong was 22mg/dL...yet, she would have seizures when her bg was 67 I don't know how many times(this was 3 months after being dx'd).

The lowest I've ever tested in the last 3 years since being dx'd was a 28, twice. My younger brother was in a serious car accident six years ago from a very bad low. The paramedics tested his blood sugar at the scene of the accident and he was 11. He was immediately given Glucagon and was transported to the hospital.

lesson learnt though

I was at 26 the lowest I ever tested (going delirious, confused, crazy!), but may have been lower during the times when I would get "insulin reaction" (is what we called it) during my sleep. But that was before I was able to recognize the symptoms and wouldn't wake up in time to eat something.

12 mg/dl. I was at the dr's office at the time too getting a checkup (this is when I was 14, my kidneys were just beggining to work again, and was on massive amounts of prednisone(bad sterriod)), the dr didn't believe it, so he got another meter and it was 12 again. He was in disbelief I was still so coherant. So weird that I could be coherant like that at 12, and yet have passed out at 30-40mg/dl. I was low pretty much 24/7 back then though. My a1c was 4.5%. Being low though probably helped my kidneys out a lot.

Yeah, weird how one can be more symptomatic at a higher reading and less at a much lower one. I think that might have something to do with what type of sugar you already have in your system (body, cells,...) and not so much with how much you have in your bloodstream. I noticed that when I felt great and hyperactive (and focused) at 50, earlier that day, I had eaten a good amount of carbs, but got low due to an overkill in insulin. But at times when I had not much to eat prior, and got down to 50, I was weak and confused. Does that make sense? Maybe it's just my crazy body, anyway!

I have went to 20 before, I could not think well and I was shaking like crazy and sweating. My mom woke up one night at 15 and was able to wake us up in time to help her.

My daughter Lydia was so low her meter (Freestyle Flash, at that time) wouldn't read it. It had to be less than 20. She was seizing, we gave her a glucagon shot and rushed her to the hospital. (It is only 5 minutes away, we are faster than calling an ambulance.) When they tested her there, she was only 26! Trevor's lowest number so far...43.

Experienced my newest low last night. 34. About 3 AM. Woke up, feeling pretty crappy. Heat's been dragging us all down, I know, and I was sweating and short of breath. Not quite panic breaths, but you could tell they were a bit laborious. I got myself up and ate some Snackwells cookies and a cup of Orange Juice and relaxed, tested 20 minutes later and it was up to 95. It felt good to be up to 95, but I was still a little nervous of going to sleep and having it drop again and not feeling the effects or not waking up all together, so I consumed some extra carbs and went back to sleep. The extra carbs were a good idea. It raised my BS a little, but had I not had those extra, I think I woulda went deep down again.

That’s what creeps me out about diabetes, it doesn't have any standards. I have actually tested 0.2 mmol, and I was partially able to function. Other times I've tested 2-3 and then just blacking out.
btw. I reckon my mmol-standards (norwegian) are similar to the American? ok, I’ll google it..

Got a new low last night. Tested 1.4 mmol, and I tested just to check. Didn't fell anything and I was able to help myself. It was so weird I actually took a pic of the test :P (though the date and time is wrong due to change of batteries)
