I think I've eaten more salads since first having this salad dressing than I ever have. Maybe this is a well known salad dressing, I don't know. I've never had it.
1/2 cup olive oil (or vege, etc)
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 ketchup
1/4 splenda (the measures like sugar kind)
2 tsp worcestershire sauce
some finally chopped onion or green onion
15 total grams of carbs (mostly the ketchup) not counting the splenda. I don't know what "less than 1 gram per teaspoon" actually is! If anyone knows, there are 12 tsps of splenda.
Hope you like this as much as I do!

Sounds interesting... I'm so hung up on blue cheese or italian dressing (both low carb), that I rarely try anything else.
BTW, they do sell sugar free ketchup (low carb).

I've recently taken to eating yellow mustard on salads, and I'm addicted! It's nice because every restaurant has it, it's carb- and calorie-free, and full of flavor. You may get some weird looks from the wait staff, but trust me, it's quite good. And, if you think about it, most of the ingredients of a salad are normally found in a sandwich, so why not put mustard on it? :)

I bet you don't use English mustard!

I absolutely love italian dressing (low carb, though).
Yeah, I've seen sugar free ketchup but it can be a little more expensive. I've never understood why an item that is missing something(ie: sugar, salt, carbs) can cost so much more.

I had no idea that you could get sugar free ketchup! I'll definitely try that on my next batch. I'm having a salad w/ this dressing on it as I type this. So good!
Mustard on your salad, Maggie? I'll have to take your word on that one. :)

Will try both sometime. Hope I like them because I am sure the blue cheese I put on is not the best of choices!! Thanks for the recipe.

Silly for asking, but . . . I used the dressing (love the taste) 2 days. Refrigerated between and it was fine. Then tonight went to get it out and the olive oil all congealed on top (like a solid layer). Didn't mix well. Was OK after it sat out for a while, but not until after dinner. Does this dressing need refrigeration. I don't like olive oil refrigerated because it does the same thing, so what do you think?

I don't like salad but if I did that sounds good.
Sugar Free Ketchup ewwwwww I'll stick to my Heinz or Huntz its not like it has lots of carbs in it.
"I put Ketchup on my Ketchup"
"Everything tastes better with Ketchup"
those are 2 of my ketchup shirts
Ketchup Fiend w/ someone trying to get ketchup out of the bottle is another.
Sounds good but I avoid Worcestershire sauce as its got too much sodium.

Olive oil does this, not because of fat, but because of wax. Olives have a waxy skin like apples to protect themselves from insects, etc. When cooled, the waxes clump together. If you want, you can "winterize" your olive oil by placing it the fridge for a few days then removing the wax. This is usually done when it's going to be used in products that are stored in the fridge (like salad dressings).

It's called Heinz’ One Carb Ketchup - a little less snap to it than regular Heinz, but more than Hunt's or Del Monte.
Do try to eat some salads, though - there is SO much benefit to us in the D club from those leafy veggies !

Ick.. ketchup in salad dressing? I like to just mix extra virgin olive oil with some white wine vinegar and dijon mustard. You can also add fresh basil and paprika to spice it up a little.

Don't you make Thousand Island dressing with ketchup?

I'll have to try that! Quite by accident, I got a grilled chicken sandwich from Wendy's once that someone dressed with mustard instead of the requested mayo. It was so good that's the only way I order one now! I'll definitely try mustard on my salad...

Greg, cut out the ketchup and Splenda and try it that way! You may not miss the carb or sweetness at all!

Hey, isn't ketchup in its own food group? Now, I remember... it's a vegetable! (well, at least it was declared one in the 80s...)
