So someone told me that one of the fastest acting carbohyrdate to counter low's with is honey. Always curious, I tried this last night. My sugar jumped 80 points in 5 minutes and over 350 points by the time I woke up.
Holy ever loving Jesus. They weren't kidding.

Now you know how honey bees move with such proportionally tiny wings. lol

Ok, so here's how I figure it...............
If you need carbs to allow your brain to function properly, then adding carbs adds brain power
but you two, Cinn and CiC are gonna blow your brain out at this rate.............

I hope that was meant to be a joke.

Try reading the post again. It was obviously a joke.
Although it bounced you numbers around a good bit, thanks for posting your experiment with the honey. It isn't something that I would try, but the information might be useful to someone.
Relatedly: There have been a few charlatans who promoted "natural" honey as a treatment or "cure" for everything from Arthritis to warts. Yes, some wags have even suggested it for diabetes.

If you go by the glycemic index alone ...
glucose = 100
honey = 62
table sugar = 64
fructose = 22
maltose = 105

He said some rude remarks with a Cicontention twist to a Moderator and was given a ten day ban. Just before his ban he wanted his account deleted, so I wouldn't be looking for his return.

I caught a good one the other day in the forum "Other Medications" and alerted Dew. Man, that gal was right on it and deleted the thread.
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND GUYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I get leery of new members whose very first post is promoting an idea and not an introduction. We've all been burned too many times. Call me paranoid. At least if I am, I'm in good company. Right Duck????

All you have to do is to take it backwards, as simple as that.

Wouldn't that raise the bg and reduce mental concentration? :biggrin:

I'm curious where is the line between advertisement and regular advice. If someone say honey will bring world peace and cure cancer it's probably wrong, but isn't saying "I use this insulin and I think it's great" is also PR for a drug company? Same goes for recomending any specific meter and many other very good and helpful advice. How do you guys decide?

It is difficult at times to decide such things, because people view things differently (even when they're looking at the same thing). It is for that reason that the mods here will sometimes remove links or close/remove threads that seem to be pushing a product - Especially when it's their first post (as Cin mentioned). Not a good way to introduce themselves.
I am one who takes strong issue with anyone who claims they cured their Cancer with some of these "snake oils" :rolleyes: (as they're commonly referred to as). While I have found some herbs/natural vitamins that aid in immunity & help with the body's self-repair, I only tell of them when asked by someone, rather than plugging them constantly (and, I don't sell them myself, so it's not like I'm getting money off of them).
On the honey front: Honey can have both good & bad effects, but with each person, results are likely to vary (no matter what is used). For example, some may have sugar spikes from eating one Oreo cookie, while others may have to eat three in order for their sugar level to come up...

I always worry about that because I'm such a Novo Nordisk fan boy - I'm always raving about their pens. Looks like I've escaped a banning so far! Although I must stress that I am NOT a Novo rep.
Incidentally, email me for Cialis and Christian Debt Relief.

This has been a Humorous Thread after I pondered it for an hour.
I've actually seen some literature tauting Snake Oil.

Hi folks,
In regard to where the line is between advertising and recommending: It is a judgement call. Sometimes it is very obvious, you have all seen it and most have recognized it immediately. Sometimes it is more esoteric:
The poster will mention a product by name, asking what anyone knows about it. Whenever the response comes back "nothing", he or she will go on to enlighten in the next post offering details and recommendations that only someone with a vested interest would offer. That is advertising.
However, when a member is excited about a product they have used that worked for them and they report such in a post, that is not advertising. On occasion, some of those members will include a link in their post. Sometimes the link is to an informational site. At other times it leads to a site that is purely sales or advertising.
Normally, the Mods will leave the informational links and remove the ad/sales links. Often the member in question did not intend to be advertising, they were just recommending a product to their fellow members and provided the link for further information.
Feel free to discuss products and services that you have experienced or read about, but if you provide a link make sure it leads to information about the product or service and not to a sales page.
I hope that clears up any confusion over what kinds of links are and are not acceptable.

Thank you Dewey and TAutry for the explanation. It makes a lot more sense to me now.
You might want to consider making a sticky thread of forum rules or something, so people will know how to avoid having their links\posts removed.

Pretty much any link to an FDA approved or doctor prescribed medication will stand. Meters and pens also fall into this catagory. Supplements including vitamins and herbs fall into a grey area. Links to distributors will probably be deleted. Links to .edu, .gov, or news articles will probably stand. Some of the snake oil distributors are dedicating web pages with what appears as legit studies to their claims with no ads on these pages. However the ads or buy here are only a click away by a back to Home or Main Page. Since the informational pages quoting studies usuall only quote portions of the study supporting their claims these are usually deleted. Links by posters, including those in signatures that are self promoting are also deleted per forum rules. Forums rules can be found by going to the FAQ link on the top bar of every page.
