I have been on the pump a week now. I am super happy with it, not so happy with the painful insertions...I use the silhouette insertion device and it hurts for at least the rest of the day in the spot I used it.

Does anyone know when you rotate infusion sites how long you wait until you can use the first spot again?

I use the silouhette but it is only painful when inserting once inserted I am fine with them. I use the right side of stomach, and leave at least an inch or two fingers away from last site.. I use to use quicksets but had alot of problems with those so changed to silouhette didnt like them at first ,so I tried a quickset again after about 6months and the cannula kept bending,, so stuck with the silouhette...I beleive I saw on MM site that they now have a shorter needle for the silouhette maybe this might help

Hope this helps,,,,as to your question I go over them when their completly healed,,
wich most of the time takes a while.......

I like the Unomedical Insets myself. They come with an inserter.

I use the Quick Sets and an inserter. I use one side of my abdomen for about 8 or 9 site changes and then rotate over to the other side. This gives me a good 2 weeks to heal on the side I just switched from.

I think you were given the sets from ****! I've been pumping 10 years and I cannot wear a Sil. I tried one a few months ago and after 3 hours I threw in the towel. I use either Quick Sets or Sure-T's. the are both relatively painless for 3 days. No need for an inserter with the Sure-T's; in fact they don't even make one for it.

I showed my wife a Sil the other day and she winced (and she's an OR nurse as well as a fellow pumper).

Do yourself a favor and get some samples of other types of sets.

I accept checks, Paypal and money orders for this advice. :)

I like insets too, but they don't work with the paradigm pump.

I agree the needle was super long and intimidating, but the nurse told me to exchange the 17 mm silhouette for the 13 mm ones. The 13 mm are a little better...I will call to see if they can send me samples of the others.
THanks!!

He he. A "little" better wouldn't be "enough" better for me. :) I refer to Sils as little torture devices.
