View Full Version : help!!
Ok I been averaging 120s+ this pass 3 weeks and sometimes I even hit highs 150s and twice into the 180 but thast why I ate lot of carbs those days. So now I been cutting down the carbs and today when I first check I was 114 after eating some soup with 28 carbs and checking after 2 hours I hit 169. So my question is how can I hit 100s and even 90s?

If you are type 1, take more insulin. If type 2, you could try exercise...

Looking through your past posts, I noticed that you are T2. Exercise is a great way to get your numbers down, as well as a low carb diet. I wouldn't completely cut carbs out, but be mindful of the carbs that you are eating. You aren't on insulin so you can't really up your I:C ratio... :(
I would also ask your doctor if you can up whatever medication you are taking, but I would seriously try more exercise, if you already are...if not, try taking a nice, brisk walk everyday for a half-hour.
Yeah the other day when I hit 180 I did exercisefor like 40 minutes and it went down to 110 but thx for the tips, Ill cut on carbs a lot and try to exercise everyday

Remember that protein contributes about 50-75%, so don't take it for granted... It will contribute to bg.
im at 115 after 4 hours :(

Provide some more detail: what kind of meal did you eat, what kind of meds are you taking (and how much), etc. How long have you been diagnosed?

Progresso traditional 99% Fat Free Chicken Noodles
High in Sodium
14g Carbs
1g Sugar
6g Proteins
and my med is Metformin 500MG and been diagnosed since 21st of March so thats about 5 months and half?
Okay, it generally takes a little less than month for metformin to start to work with its best effects (from what I have read here), so we'll rule out that the met has yet to work well.
What kind of exercise did you do and for how long?

I think that is a great place to be 4 hours after eating. :congrats:
I use a exercise bike, so I shouldnt be to worry about hitting 120s 130s? It goes down to 110s digits after like 4 hours but the lowest I have hit this month, August is 100 and 105. August been a little high. Let me see the numbers
8-01 like Midnight159
8-01 112
8-02 126 105
8-03 119
8-04 165 153 High day lol so I check after 5 hours 116
8-05 I dont know lol
8-06 100
8-07 123 112
8-08 130 124
8-09 194 :| so after 3 hours after exercise 112
8-10 125 134 5 hours later 128 159 after eating and 2 hours later got 112 and before going to bed got 114
8-11 141 169 was to High so I check after 2 hour and got 115 and before eating 116. So now I have to wait 2 hours.

You only take 500mg of metformin once a day? You might want to up that to twice a day, with your doc's permission of course. The max dose of metformin is 2500mg per day. You have a long way to go before you get to that dose though.

Hmmm, I'd still maybe let the metformin work for another month or so to see if that brings your levels down. If not, exercise a little more, eat a little less carbs. You're just starting the journey...it can take awhile to get things figured out. :)
Thx but how are my numbers? Bad, average or good?
Ok I couldnt figure out how to edit my previous post and after 2 hours after meal i got a 109!!!!

AZ, those are great numbers for someone who is just starting out. :) I would definitely get into a routine of checking in the morning (fasting number), before meals, two hours post meals, and before bed. Of course, this may be too much for you, but really it's the only way to know really well what your numbers are.
However, your doc may not give you a script for that many strips, so use your own judgment. I really wouldn't worry too much about the numbers now, worry more about eating healthier, exercising and doing your best. :)
You're doing great so far!

However, your doc may not give you a script for that many strips, so use your own judgment. If you have only a limited number of test strips available, say, three, you can rotate their use. On one day, you could concentrate on mornings; take a BG reading on awaking (fasting BG), before breakfast (if not just after waking), and two hours later. Another day, you could concentrate on the evening, before dinner, two hours after, and before bed, And then again, around lunch. In this way, there are no times that no untested where there may be surprises.
