In addition to being a diabetic heart patient, I'm a gadget freak.
I purchased a pair of Nike+ shoes and an iPod Nano a month back. I needed a new pair of walking shoes and the concept of being able to "record" my walks seemed like a neat thing to do. I'm really glad I did it. I walk with my dog (Sir William Thatcher, a happy and curly Cavalier King Charles. for you dog lovers) around my Pennsylvania block which is .75 miles, half up-hill and half down-hill.
When we finish with the walk, I plug my iPod in and it captures the information about the walk and sends it directly to a history site at Nike. It tracks time, distance, pace and other metrics you set for yourself. I am truly impressed with the whole concept. It works well and is a wonderful motivator. You can also set yourself up in a group to compare your "workouts" with other peoples. Quite a motivator.
Google it if you are interested in one. I'm not selling them. I just wanted to tell you all that it works and it may be of use if you want to automatically track your exercise.
Best Regards
