I became a diabetic a year ago, My doctor put me on metformin, After taking it awhile I began to feel really bad. I checked my blood sugar often and found that it was high. So the doctor added more metformin to me. Two in the moring, Two at night plus another little green pill. Still high and sick. averaged 350. Decided I wasn't going to take it anymore. But still checked my blood sugar. IT WENT DOWN. and down.. so why take it. Then I thought I should take something since I am a diabetic. So I went back to one in the morning, one at night. Sugar levels went back up again. Today. I show him the results. He can't believe it and now has me on actos. what do you think about all this...

I would ask you what your diet is like. What are you eating and when. Metformin just makes you more insulin sensitive. Shouldn't raise your bg. What other meds do you take?

When were you diagnosed? Metformin takes a little while to kick in, anyway from two weeks to six weeks for different people. Don't give up yet.
