I've finally got a job. This may not seem like such a feat to some of you but I'm over the hill according to some employers (they don't ask but they can do math when they check over the resume) , have spent most of my life raising children, have a year of recent education and not much experience. I'll be working part-time, 12 hr shifts both days and graveyard. I work from 7 a.m.-7p.m. or 7 p.m.-7a.m. in a small hospital as a Ward secretary.

Right now I take Lantus about 10 p.m., Novolog before each meal, and Metformin with each meal. So it is throughout the day. What happens when I'm sleeping throughout the day and awake at night. And then sometime during that week I switch to a day shift for awhile. Have I bitten off more than I should chew?

Are there any night time workers out there. If so when and how do you make changes in awake times. I will check with my doctor but so far you guys have given me better info than she has.

Great news about getting the job, I think. When my husband was on different shifts, we ate at the same time, no matter which shift it was. He just changed the place he ate a meal, ie sometimes supper at home, sometimes at work. That helped keep his system a little regular. I am not sure how that would work with shots, but seems like Lantus could be done the same way, can you take that injection at work? I hope this works out good for you, and it isn't too much for you physically.
