Tubing turning color

Hi Everyone

I had something wierd happen when I changed my tubing last time. I unhooked it and laid it down and I noticed that it was not white/clear anymore! It was almost a tan/redish color. Has anyone ever had their tubing do this before? My bg's were pretty high the whole duration of that set/tubing, and so I worry about if something happened to it.

That's a new one on me. I've never see the tubing change color except when blood has crept up it a few inches from the site.

I had the same exact thing Laura but awhile back. I just assumed it was blood but when I flushed the line the brown didn't disappear. I then thought that the blood obviously must have stained the tubing. :dontknow:

I don't think Jeeves will have a clue unless he gets the big D. ;) lol

I still have no clue what could have done that to the tubing. I didn't spill on it, there was no blood involved, I don't have any red shirts or anything.

The world may never know...lol :)

I've had my tubing turn colors when wearing new clothes that I didn't bother to run through the wash first. The color was just in the area where it had been rubbing against the cloth, though.

All this talk of color got me thinking - why can't they make tubing in color? Then the pump would not look medical at all. Kids would be happier to wear one if they looked funkier.

I've heard from teenagers the only reason they've ever had to explain what a pump was is because the tubing was so obviously "something yucky that was inserted in their stomach" and comments ranged from "argh how can you stand that" to "you must be really really sick to have like a needle in you ALL the time!"

And I can relate to that. Look closely. The pump is a very hi-tech wireless device if the tubing could resemble an aerial (black) or just a cable (blue).

I wear my cellphone in front of it, and noone has ever noticed the tubing, at least noone has commented. The cell hides it from the front. Black tubing might work. It might make it easier to see bubbles too.
