Question about Glycemic Index

I have a question about the Glycemic Index. In the chart that I have, it says that the GI of white bread is 70 and the GI of Wheat bread is 72. I thought wheat bread had a much lower GI than white.

Yeah, so did I....the only thing maybe I can think of is that 'wheat bread' isn't the wholemeal brown bread that you and I are probably thinking of.

Might be because wheat bread has more fiber than white, also.
