What is the fastest acting insulin that can be used in a pump?

What is the fastest acting insulin that can be used in a pump?
I want to say Apidra but I could be wrong and if I am, I'm sure I will be corrected.

Apidra, Humalog, and Novolog are all about the same, though some say Apidra is a little faster and others say Novolog is a little faster.

Funny has it right but when you say fastest acting are you talking the initial act or the duraction? I have not used Apidra so I can't say anything on that one yet, but for me, Novolog kicks in faster but lasts longer than Humalog.

I'm looking for an insulin that starts affecting my bg sooner. Foods affect my bg so much faster than the insulin. It's not always convenient to take insulin and then wait to eat. A faster acting insulin would allow me to better control my bg.

The present choices would be either Apidra, Humalog or Novolog. Which one of those it is depends on your body and how it works with each insulin. The only way to know for sure which is fastest in you is to try each one. My endo is good about giving me samples when I ask.

I've primarily used Humalog in my pump. I tried Novolog about 2 years ago. Unlike most others, I found Novolog to be slower and lasts longer, so I resumed Humalog after 2 months. I'm now trying Apidra. I've found Apidra to be just slightly faster than Humalog and clears out faster. I consider those an advantage. I don't know yet whether I'll continue on Apidra. That depends on how my insurance will cover it and as I said, the difference is slight.

This is really a YMMV kinda question, for some people novolog works fastest, and for some humalog or apidra, although they are basically the same, there is one small different between the 3, and that can make them work differently for you. I have been on all 3, apidra is fast, but to me novolog is the fatest, and has a little bit of a tail effect on it, this makes it perfect for me, others may not have as good a reaction to it, thats way it's good there is more then one on the market..
