I changed my set last night and have managed to hook it on the inside of my jeans at least 4 times today and it's only 8:30am here! Any ideas on how to avoid this or make it less uncomfortable? I recently started using my upper backside for sets- overall, a good location for me, but the clothing thing seems to be a bigger issue here than it is when I use my stomach. And of course there's the issue of tucking in shirts because I forget that the set is now in the back...ouch!

This is a good set.....I don't want to have to change it....

Becky, I had to stop using that location because of just what you are describing. I like using my backside, but when I sat down my jeans would catch as I sat on the set and tug on it. Those sets always became a bit sore so I stopped using that location. The only thing you can do is try to become more aware. You might try putting a bandaid or something over the site, but my fear is you will eventually pull the set off when trying to remove the bandaid. Let me know if you come up with a good solution.

You could try taping down a "safety loop" -- just tape the tubing in place a few inches from the site. It won't keep you from snagging the tubing, but it might keep you from yanking out the set itself?

Unfortunately, it's the set hub that I'm catching, not the tubing (though I've done that plenty of times too). I may end up doing what Nancy did, and just stop putting them in the back :( Nancy, I thought about the band-aid suggestion. I used to do something similar with tape and gauze when I was mountain biking frequently to keep my waistband from "roughing up" my site. I'll experiment with this a little, and let you know how it goes.
Thanks to both of you for your replies!

I like to place my cannulas in the abdominal area, and I have the same problem, especially in the upper abdomen. Leaning over the kitchen sink or counter or a desk, I'm always catching the connector on the edge. I've thought about taping over it, but I like to be able to see any site irritations. If only they were more flush with the skin...

Unfortunately this is one problem with sets. Even though they are about as small as they can get, this is a problem. The only way to fully avoid it would be a needle set, since that's just a needle and tubing, no plastic hump. This is also one reason I consider something like the Omnipod a pain, as it's even bigger than just a standard infusion set. What I hate the most is when I put one in directly in the location of my seat belt. My entire drive for those 3 days is not painful, but annoying. I wish I had some help for you, but all I can say is continue trying different locations until you find some that may not bother you as much.
