Ever since school started my blood sugars started being very strange. My appetite increased and I thought that because I was eating more it was affecting my blood sugars. I didn't know if it was because of the cooler weather or the start of school and being more active?

But yesterday and today I ate virtually nothing and my blood sugars have hung around 225! Consistently! Yesterday for breakfest, cottage cheese and a banana. For lunch, one beef taco. For dinner, a piece of chicken and some veggies. Blood sugar was still in the 200's.

Today for breakfest I had one slice of wheat toast and a scoop of cottage cheese. NO lunch. And accouple pretzels and a few slices of cheese for dinner. (I was studying!) Blood sugar is 228 at 10 pm.

I don't get it??? Usually if I ate this little I'd be low and have to snack. Maybe my Byetta isn't working this month? That would explain the appetite change, as that really knocked my appetite down.

But my fasting blood sugars are high too. Hover in the low 200's.

I honestly thought I was just getting used to a new regimen with school and that's why my bgs were so wacky. But it's gotta be something else. I'm starving here and my bg is so high! I don't think I've even seen a normal bg reading in the longest, but again I've been so busy and don't test as often as I used to so I guess it's slipped by my notice.

What does it sound like to you guys?

It does. When I don't eat, or when I skip a meal... I run high. Unbelievable, isn't it? Has to do with what the body doesn't get from food well it will get some other way. In your internal organs that is, and raising your BG. Fun isn't it?

I find the more I stick to a reg schedule, the more I can expect BG to be stable and within the range I aim for.

Most people's blood sugar rises when they are under stress.
Being back in school will certainly cause some stress whether
you realize it or not. Other than that(as Marie mentioned) your
body may still be trying to get used to your new activities,
consistency usually brings the sugar to a more stable level
assuming you are taking the right amount of meds. Your body
also likes regularly schedule meals(it doesn't like starving 'cuz then
it rebels and brings in the glucose calvery). Also you may have
an infection or illness that hasn't surfaced yet. Lots of possibilities.
Hope you get it figured out soon. :)

Thanks, guys!

Actually, my meals are more regimented now than before. And I wasn't starving myself the whole time my blood sugar has been raised. I was trying to eat less to see if it affected it at all, but it just proved that it doesn't matter what I eat.

After not eating very much last night (well, had a few cheese puffs but they don't have too many carbs), I woke up with a fasting bg of 225. It's like my blood sugars are permanently stuck around there no matter what I do!

But I have been a lot more active and I wasn't used to that during the summer. I was a bum all summer, hehe. :-

I'm going to get a new Byetta pen and see if maybe it was a bad one or maybe the temp in my fridge wasn't right and it went bad or something.

Thanks, guys.

Ugh, it's frustrating, isn't it? :argh:... I hear you. I HATE when I have such problems like that and there doesn't seem to be a reason for it . But I guess that's the nature of this disease, it can be pretty unpredictable .

It's possible that it's your Byetta- perhaps you should open up a new vial/batch... if that doesn't work, is it possible that you might be coming down with something? ALso, like mentioned, stress can often be a culprit too...

Try not to stress out even more about it.. just keep testing and hopefully you'll see those numbers improve soon. ;)

Hang in there :ciao:

Yep I have a mild to moderate cold. Not the worst I've had, doesn't affect my energy level, just some irritating coughing and runny nose.

I called the pharmacy to get a new Byetta pen but I'm sure the insurance company will FREAK since it's about a week early. Grrrrr.

I just read online that bananas are a big no-no. I found this out after I've been eating them all summer. :frown:

I don't think it was the banana. If I just eat it by itself with some cottage cheese, it works great for me.

Yesterday morning I ate half a sandwich on wheat bread with turkey and mayo and some cottage cheese.

Lunch was two small soft shell beef tacos.

Dinner was turkey with creamed spinach.

Fasting blood sugar today . . . 201!

I'm sooooo frustrated!! So is it just from being sick? I got a new Byetta pen so it can't be that! But this has been going on for 2 weeks. I'm pretty sick, have a cold, but it's not that bad, just some moderate coughing.
