From the time I was dx'ed in late March, I have made steady improvement on all aspects of the disease (diet/excercise/bg/weight) . There were time that I felt that I understood it, and that I was on top of it ....

The last week or so, for some reason, my Bg tests has been up by about 30 points in both fasting and aftermeal. Maybe a little added stress, maybe I've excercised a tiny bit less, maybe I shouldn't have had that little sliver of homemade fudge, maybe it's just the unpredictability of the disease.

I'm still positive, and really appreciate the value in testing 3 times daily and paying attention to the little things. The lesson is that a little frustration comes with the deal, even when you think that you're doing everything right. I meet with my dietician next week, just in time to get some encouragement and advice.

Could you be coming down with something? Perhaps a cold or infection?

If you are to control your diabetes with diet and exercise, there is very little room for "slacking". A little bit here, a little bit there and it's too much. It's not nice, but that's the way it is.
Good luck with getting back on track. And make sure you keep testing!

Hi Cyborg

When you responded, I was ready to answer "no I've felt fine" .... but that day I started with a sniffle, and over the next few days I have had mild flu-like symtoms. In these recent few days, my blood glucose has continued to be abnormally high at times, and slightly higher with most other readings.

A call to the doc advised lots of fluids, as much bed rest as possible, maintain meal schedule with easy to eat stuff, and to avoid OTC liquid cold medications.
