Hello everyone!

I'm a newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetic. Along w/ my new diagnosis of diabetes, I was also diagnosed w/ Hypertension and Heart disease all of this at 40 years of age.. I am also a Cancer survivor 6 years post Colon cancer stage 3 Dx@ 33years old. I think I should change my screen name to Timex.. (I take a licking and keep on ticking) :)

I am currently taking Metformin 850mg 2 times a day. Lisinopril 10 mg, 1 time a day and Lopresser 25mg 2 times a day. My 1st A1c came back as 7.2 but since diagnosis my bg has not been above 209 2hrs post meal. and generally is staying around 124. Diet changes have begun to do the deed of getting the pounds to come off. My goal is to hopefully be able to control the bg's w/ diet and exercise to eventually get off of the metformin and blood pressure meds altogether.

That's about it for now. Glad to have a forum to turn to for info and help.

Cheers!:tee:

Hey Trekbear -- welcome! I used to live in Tulsa (and my sister still lives in Norman), so it's nice to have another Okie on board. And I think Timex is a great brand.

Hang in there with the diet and exercise, but don't be too quick to dump the meds. When I was diagnosed 9 months ago, my goal was to stop taking meds, too. Not realistic for me (but my A1c when I presented was almost twice -- yes, twice -- yours). I'm doing fine today with a small dose of oral meds, a fair amount of daily exercise, and of course a very watchful eye over everything that I eat. It can get better.

Thanks for the Welcomes everyone!

Labob, I won't be too quick jumping off the med wagon here. :) I do want to be able to control it without the help of meds, but I am realistic and want to do whatever it takes to stay healthy, if meds are required to do that, then so be it :)

Thanks again for the Welcome!
