I have been on lantus(16units at night) and three actorapid shots before meals but i got hypos quite a lot ana just a week aago my doctor changed me to 2 shots of novo mix 30 (8units in the morning and5 in the evening) he also gave me pills 1 avandia(rosiglitazone maleate)inthe morning and glucophage(500mg metformin) 1 with every meal(about 2 a day. I felt nausea and didnt feel likeeating butmy sugar levels wee between 90 and 140 which is quitegood. The doctor said the nausea would pass andi amgetting better. What I found strange is the pills are not supposed to be takenby type 1 diabetics but my doctor insists that it is ok. Is this right. Thankyou very much and I am happy to be in this forum and reading other peoples experiences. Waiting for your answer!

Welcome to DF. The best Diabets site on the internet in my opinion.
There might be a reason for the pills, but that's something you and the Dr. have to decide.
The nausea could be either you getting control of your B/G or just your reaction to going hyper or hypo---that depends on how your body reacts to B/G changes.

Hello Lola: It isn't usual for a Type 1 to take pills with their Insulin
treatment but I can guarentee you are not the first to use both.
Your Dr. must have a specific reason for putting you on the pills also.
Nice to see you here and Welcome Aboard. :)
