I am type one but earlier this year had a c-peptide done and it was 315 and I forget exactly what it is suppose to be. Does anyone know what a normal c-peptide for a non diabetic is suppose to be?

According to WebMD, normal fasting levels for c-peptide in a non-diabetic are 0.17–0.83 micromoles per liter (µmol/L): http://www.webmd.com/hw/diabetes_1_2/tu2817.asp

I'm confused that your c-peptide results 6 years after diagnosis were 315. Was there a unit of measure given for the 315 that is not micromoles per liter (µmol/L)?

cheers,
j

My lab gives a range of 1.5-3.0 as normal. Don't know what the units are. Could it be that yours was 3.15? In which case, that would be not type 1 most likely.

My lab interpreted C-peptide in n/mol. Either way, your result seems very high. Here's another link with further info, but I hope you've talked with your doctor about it.

I talked to my doctor today and found out that i am at 317
normal is between 270 and 1282 so i am on the low end but still producing
which means that i am actually type 1.5

That means that if you weren't on insulin 6 years ago, you may have been 5.5 years ago. You just helped ease the pain of producing insulin off of your remaining beta cells therefore making them live longer.
