I have to say "chocolate" but then after I'm away from any of the choices, they thought is not appetizing. One little nibble and I'll lose it though. There is no one little chocolate covered almond for me. I have one of those addictive personalities--Mom and Dad were wonderful people but alcoholics. I haven't had a drink for 40 years and it scares me to think what it would do if I did.

The only thing I really have a problem resisting is bread.....I still eat a little whole grain and low carb, but I miss home made breads, biscuits, cornbread, pumpernickel bread.:eating:

I can resist cakes, pastries, chocolate and the likes. What I find extremely hard are the breads, the rice, and pastas! :banghead:

It's rice for me. I have no self control with it, so I avoid it completely.

Out of those options, I voted for chocolate, but my biggest temptation carb wise would probably be those starchy carbs- like pasta, rice, breads...

I feel for you, Penny, I miss eating warm bread with butter... yum.

My favorite comfort food - potatos! I crave them all week long. I wish I could live on them, but they're a once in a while treat now.

cheers,

My biggest weakness has always been chocolate, hands down, but I don't deny myself now, so I don't really consider it to be a temptation. I learned many years ago that to totally deny myself of things was asking for trouble, so I don't, I simply make different choices, smaller portions, etc. I've been doing it like this for a number of years now, and I don't have any problems with feeling tempted by much of anything where food is concerned.

That's what I used to think. Then I started testing after eating a meal with potatoes! It's as bad as rice. I now have a very small potato about once a week, if my BS has been good. Even with injectiong to cover for it, I am high for hours.

sweet potatoes taste better and don't raise my bgs as much.

Pastries are the only ones I avoid completely, and letting myself partake moderately of the others I am not tempted.

I chose chocolate, but I'm addicted to this rich, creamy yoghurt we get here with mixed berry compote.... OH MY GOSH it's amazing.... it also requires a 6unit novorapid bolus, but that yoghurt is worth 10 extra jabs!!! mmmm... might have have it for lunch today, actually!!

I love things like brownies, so mine is more of a "combo" temptation....

That said, I've been doing better about trying to stay away from the stuff, so that I can try to lose some weight...

Lately it's been gummy bears, swiss berries....frankly anything gummy. I don't know why 'cuz pre diabetes, I never really ate many of them. Lately it's whenever I can sneak them or when I know I can work'em off. I hope to work it out of my system soon.

Sweets in general but more specifically, chocolate. I've tried the "sugar-free" chocolates, but I have terrible reactions to the sugar alcohols. Have you guys tried the chocolates sweetened with inulin? It doesn't give you the typical sugar alcohol affect.

Funny, when I'm hypoglycemic, my husband tries to help out by giving me a ripe banana or sugar in my drink and I yell NO! It's my chance to eat all the things I'm denied! I go for the candy, the watermelon, the melon ice cream that's about freezer burnt...

I seriously love those mellowcreme pumpkins that come out around Halloween and cream eggs around Easter. I actually got excited last week when my blood sugar dropped low because my sister bought some of the pumpkins and I got to eat one.

Your poll is missing a few things that carb cravers would die for....

Potatoes, rice and pasta

Chips, bread, crackers, corn puffs etc.

Chocolate covered peanut butter patties sold by the Girl Scouts. If I were told I have six weeks to live......I don't know if there is enough money to buy what I think I could eat of those things. Best when kept in the refridgerator and with a glass of milk. My sugar levels just shot up thinking about them. Going to go now and check it.

Oh dear, I am not even going to read this thread because I am very suggestible. If I even hear or read the word for a food, it makes me instantly want to eat them!!!

Last night I DREAMED that I ate these ~huge~ pastries. Three of them. They were about 18 inches X 5 inches X 3 inches. Two were custard filled with chocolate on top. One was filled with cinnamon apples. I really enjoyed them in my dream, ha-ha-ha! Then my superego intervened in my dream and I felt bad about having eaten them. But then, I somehow realized that I was only dreaming, and I dreamed that it would be good to eat like this in my dreams so that it would not really affect my real-life diabetes yet I would still get the enjoyment. Just let me have my temptations in my dreams only.

The one thing that would do me in is a Krispy Kreme Glazed Doughnut.
Ahhhh that so good. The first day I was on my pump I ate 3 of them and didn't bolus cause I couldn't find the carb count. I shot up too 300+ and then bolus'd and came down to like 60.

I had to say alcohol, cause if i go out - i can't say no to a couple of drinks. Whereas I can say no to other things like chocolate and cakes - even tho i have a sweet tooth - but i go thru phases with that and then sometimes dont want anything for months.

Any kind of sweet is a temptation for me. I have to be really careful when the kids are snacking because I get tempted to ask them for "just a bite". I'm liable to eat the whole thing, and that would make them mad!
