Hi,

Im really worried I may have diabetes.... so just joined here and was looking for some advice .. any would be good.

I moved to t he states a few months ago, and currently dont have insurance or a dr... and I have been feeling unwell.

At first it just started with weakness....which has got worse over the weeks.

At times my legs tremble so bad I cant walk ....I get dizzy, I feel weak, I shake my muscles are twitching...and I feel as though I am going to throw up.

I have been trying to figure out what could be causing this...

I looked up my symptoms online and found that they are symptoms of low blood sugar.

I do eat ok ... I eat fruit and salad each day ...Its not like I dont eat healthy.

So lately when I have been getting these symptoms I go and eat some sugar .. and within 15 mins .. I feel a whole lot better.... I am doing this 3/4 times a day .. when it starts .. I eat 2 spoons of sugar.

Is this something I should worry about or see a dr ? do you think its diabetes ?

Please .. any advice would be great

Sounds like you might be hypoglemic. This can be a precursor to diabetes. Nonetheless, you might want to see a doc of some sort...

As bad as you feel, I think you need to get to a doctor soon for some diagnostic tests. As Cyborg mentioned, it's possible the answer is as simple as you being hypoglycemic, but you need a proper diagnosis. Get thee to a doctor!

Hey Vapour: If you feel better when you have sugar
it certainly could be as mentioned above or Diabetes.
Instead of eating just fruit and salad(although good for
you), feel free to have some meat and cheese(even put
it in your salads, to keep your sugars more stable. Or
tofu(:puke: ), peanut butter on crackers, etc., also a glass
of milk(soy or plain). As mentioned, see a Doc and get some
tests done. A meter is handy also. Keep a juice and handy
sweets with you when you go out. Good Luck. :)

A super easy test you can do (as I did) is to buy and use a Blood Glucose meter. It may cost you $15-$25. Or better yet - borrow one from anyone you can. Read the instructions carefully. Test yourself immediately after waking. Test yourself 2 hours after a normal meal. Test yourself when your symptoms present themselves. If your readings are significantly outside normal ranges the information will point you in the right direction, and may provide useful when you go to a doctor.

Every one of us uses this tool and the information it provides many times a day. It is reliable and trustworthy. In my opinion, this would be a very effective filter to determine if your condition is related to blood glucose levels, and specifically diabetes. If you do not have health insurance this is a smart step to take.

Good luck,

Joe

Is it possible you are just not eating enough? I think anyone could have temporary hypoglycaemia if they just ate salads. That said, forget the cost and see a doctor before it gets any worse.
