Hi everyone.
I'm a 45 year old male, that if I said, spent a lot of time in the gym, would be an understatement (I know...Need to get a life).:)
I recently had my bloods done and was horrified to find that my glucose level was 8.3 (fasting). I consequently found that I had elevated Blood presure and a high colestrol count of 6.1 to boot.:frown: To say I was a little concerned would also be an understatement:frown:
My diet for some time now, has been oily fish, chicken breast, veg and fruit etc. High protein and I'm told a little too high in carbs. I'm a big guy that happens to be (I thought), very fit and disaplined.
Being a rugby, squash player and all round kinda athelete, I was naive enough to believe that you can't feel as good and as strong as I do and not have a problem. I was always raised to believe that you are your best doctor when it comes to how you feel and that when there is a problem, SEE SOMEONE! The strange thing for me is that I've had NO symptoms and just by chance I went to my GP for an unrelated problem. My GP informed me that I was pre diabetic, a new labeling I hear, but a growing concern amongst the population.
I recently purchased an accu check glucose testing kit and have been taking the test 3 times a day before food, afternoon and just before bed (certainly makes you a little paronoid).:)
? Whats a normal reading for those 3 times of the day?
If anyone has any thoughts and ideas on what I could be doing wrong and anything I could try, that's a natual solotion to bringing my glucose level down (I get the feeling I could be missing something), please do let me know. This is all new to me and just a little confusing and alarming.:)
Many thanks people.
