Got my test results today. Seems 112 synthroid is no longer doing the job! The thyroid triggering hormone that is supposed to be less than 20 mine came in at 303. Moving the dosage up to 125 (just mailed that in today).
Also does anyone else have a hiatal hernia?
This is what was causing my chest pains. After ruling out the heart, the doctor went on a 3 month you must be depress kick! He decided this based on sis and my oldest daughter being bipolar and my youngest having depression. I now have an appreciation for depression medication and the damage they can cause. When people would claim that a depression medication made them more depressed (or suicidal) I used to think YEAH RIGHT! Before beginning treatment, I did tell my doctor that I did not agree with his diagnosis of depression but would give it a try. The first set of pills made me very depressed, I had never experienced anything like that before. The next set (fewer side affects) was better than the first set but still unmotivated to do anything. Finally 3 months later and no decrease in the chest pains, we did an upper GI. They found the hiatal hernia then. I'm taking Prilosec OTC and it works so much better than depression meds. Oh after stopping the depression medication it took nearly 3 weeks to clear the fog from my mind.
My A1C was 5.6 in May up from 5.1 in Nov 2005. I was curious what the current A1C is so I have ordered one of those at home A1C test kits from Amazon.com (only 9.99 for first one). I'll post later with how easy or hard it is to use.
